After it was revealed that vegetative hormones operate as the agents supervising growth and development, naturally, attempts to use these connections in agriculture and gardening as regulators of growth of plants have been made. in this section we will discuss application natural and is artificial the synthesised substances for regulation of dynamics of growth of this or that culture. Pesticides and herbicides will be considered in the following chapter. In many cases the hopes assigned earlier on substantial increase of a crop by means of hormones, have not come true, as hormones usually do not strengthen photosynthesis which finally and is a basis of productivity of culture. Besides, application of natural hormones is often accompanied by destruction of their superfluous quantities as a result of an adaptive metabolism of a plant. however variety of the chemical compounds useful to regulation of growth of plants, is applied already for many years. The majority of them are structurally similar to natural hormones, but are not identical to them, therefore they collapse not at once a plant. These substances often cause thin changes in a plant metabolism. they can change crop indicators, having increased quantity of any necessary component, or can raise quality, instead of quantity of production. Recently it has been experimentally shown, that at processing of several various plants by high-molecular spirit triakontanolom [SNz (СН2) 28СН2ОН], allocated of a lucerne (Medicago sativa), amplifies growth of sprouts and raises productivity. How operates triakontanol while it is not known. Further it becomes clear, whether this substance will have any practical value for increase of productivity of agricultural crops. now any known hormone at processing of plants by it cannot raise productivity grain or efficiency of meadow grasses; Unique exception make antigibberellinovye ingibitory growth which do it by an indirect route, preventing lengthening of stalks and by that drowning of plants, i.e. prigibanie them to the earth under the influence of a wind. The basic way of increase of productivity grain is an optimisation of doses of brought fertilizers and improvement of the genetic nature of grades. However hormones can increase efficiency of fruit plants, and growth regulators can be used for prevention posleuborochnyh losses.
